Start an email list because you need to own your audience

Emily Mills, Sketch Academy
"Start an email list because you need to own your audience.
To start an email list, ask people you personally know or are interested in your thing - even friends and family! If you ask nicely, they’ll give you great advice as you figure things out.
After you have 10 subscribers, share about your list on your social media. Post regularly.
Share your expertise. Answer questions. Give advice. Offer something for free, like a helpful guide. Invest in your subscribers and try to be genuinely helpful. Over time, the trust you have built will mean that your audience is willing to buy from you when you're ready to sell. Always keep a mindset of service over selling and your audience will trust you forever. People can sniff out selfishness in a second."
