Podia vs. SendOwl: Which one is right for me?
Podia and SendOwl are both solid tools for selling digital products online. They handle checkout and file delivery, let you build SEO-friendly product pages, and make it easy to set up affiliate programs, coupons, upsells, and pre-sales.
The difference is in how much of your business each one can run. SendOwl is mainly a checkout and delivery tool that plugs into your existing setup. Podia is a full platform where you can build your website, sell your products, grow your email list, and host your community, all in one place.
If you already have a website you love and just need a reliable way to sell and deliver digital files, SendOwl might be all you need. But if you're looking for one home for your whole online business, Podia is a great option. Let’s take a closer look.
Podia and SendOwl pricing and plans
Both platforms offer a free trial so you can see how they work before you buy.
Podia has three paid plans.
- Mover: $49/month ($42/month billed annually) with a 5% transaction fee. It includes your website, blog, landing pages, community, digital products, and courses, with up to 50 products, 25 community spaces, and 100 email subscribers.
- Shaker: $99/month ($84/month billed annually) with no transaction fees. It includes everything in Mover, plus affiliate marketing, upsells, one assistant seat, and integrations with PayPal, Zoom, and Zapier, with up to 150 products, 100 community spaces, and 500 email subscribers.
- Earthquaker: $179/month ($150/month billed annually) with no transaction fees. It includes everything in Shaker, with unlimited products, unlimited assistant seats, unlimited video storage, unlimited community spaces, and up to 1,000 email subscribers.
All Podia plans include email marketing features like templates, automations, and newsletters, and you can add more subscribers on any plan as your list grows. All paid plans also include a free migration service so the team can move your products and customers over from another platform.
SendOwl has three plans based on your sales volume.
- Launch: $39/month ($32.50/month annually): It includes up to 5,000 orders and $10,000 in annual sales with 10GB bandwidth.
- Grow: $87/month ($72.50/month annually): It includes up to 25,000 orders and $36,000 in annual sales with 20GB bandwidth.
- Scale: $159/month ($132.50/month annually): It includes up to 50,000 orders and $100,000 in annual sales with 50GB bandwidth.
Business plans start at $299/month for higher volumes.
The biggest difference on the pricing front is the total amount of sales you can make on each platform. SendOwl has limits to the number of orders you can process and the total value of sales you can make. If you have an unexpectedly big launch, for example, you might need to upgrade to a more expensive plan.
Podia's plans don't cap you by revenue or number of orders, so you’ve got more flexibility (and room for pleasant surprises).
What features do Podia and SendOwl have?
Both platforms let you sell digital downloads, subscriptions, bundles, and online courses. Both platforms also come with affiliate marketing tools so you can allow happy customers to promote your products for you.
One difference is that Podia comes with the ability to sell coaching as well as live, virtual, and in-person events, while SendOwl has support for physical products.
Community is another difference. SendOwl doesn’t have a community tool built in, so you’ll need to use a separate platform if you want to create a space for your audience. Podia has community included on all plans, and all customers get a custom home feed where they can see their community spaces, products, and any content they have access to. You can create free and paid community tiers, and community access can be bundled together with your digital products.
When it comes to your website, Podia gives you a full website builder with a blog, landing pages, and a customizable storefront. SendOwl has a store page and product sales pages, but you’ll need to combine this with other tools if you’d like a full website and blog.
Email marketing is another feature that’s built into every Podia plan. You get newsletters, automations, segmentation, tagging, and campaigns without needing to connect another tool. Each Podia plan comes with a set number of subscribers out of the box, and you can add on more as your business grows.
SendOwl doesn't have email marketing built in, but it integrates with popular email service providers if you already have one you like.
Which one should you choose?
Podia is built for creators who want everything in one place. Your products, website, emails, and community all live together, which means fewer integrations to manage and more time focused on what you're actually building.
