Podia and Beehiiv both have a free plan so you can see how each tool works before investing any money. There are also several paid plans you can choose from with more features as you grow your business.
- Free, $0/month and 10% transaction fee: The free plan includes a full website with hosting, blog, landing pages, one digital download, one coaching session, and your community. You also get all Podia Email features for your first 100 subscribers.
- Starter: $9/month and 8% transaction fee ($4/month when paid annually): Starter includes all the Free features plus custom domains and chat support.
- Mover: $39/month and 5% transaction fee ($33/month when paid annually): Mover includes all the Starter features plus unlimited digital products, courses, product bundles, and third-party code.
- Shaker: $89/month and 0% transaction fee ($59/month when paid annually for the first year, then $75/month when paid annually after that): Shaker includes all the Mover features plus affiliates.
You can also add Podia Email to any Podia base plan, including the free plan. Podia Email is free for your first 100 subscribers, and after that, the price goes up as your list grows. All Podia Email plans come with Podia’s full suite of advanced email marketing features, so you can send beautiful newsletters, run automations, build campaigns, and segment/filter your audience no matter your list size.
With Beehiiv, you’ll start by choosing your plan based on the features you need. The price of your plan then goes up as your subscriber count grows.
While you can get 2,500 subscribers for free on the Launch plan, all other plans go up in price as soon as your list hits 1,000 subscribers. Below, you’ll see the starting price for each plan assuming you’re at the 1,000 subscriber mark, as well as what’s included.
Beehiiv Pricing:
- Launch: The free plan includes a basic website and unlimited posts and email sends for up to 2,500 subscribers.
- Scale: Scale starts at $34/month billed annually or $39/month billed monthly for creators with less than 1000 subscribers. This plan includes email automations, monetization tools, and more website customization.
- Max: Max starts at $86/month billed annually or $99/month billed monthly for creators wtih less than 1000 subscribers. This plan includes the ability to remove Beehiiv branding and more publications.
- Enterprise: This plan is for big businesses and includes an account manager and dedicated IP address.
Here’s how this could work in two different scenarios.
Let’s say you have an email list with under 100 subscribers. You can get your website, email list, and blog content up and running with Podia and Beehiiv, but Podia also gives you the ability to sell one digital download and one coaching product. This means you could start earning money while you grow.
Now let’s imagine that you’ve grown your list to nearly 5,000 subscribers. With Beehiiv, you’d need to choose either the Scale plan for $69/month (billed annually) or the Max plan for $130/month (billed annually). Both of these plans come with more website options, email automations, and the ability to monetize through ads, boosts, and premium subscriptions.
On Podia, you could stay on the free plan and upgrade your Podia Email subscription. You can have up to 5,000 subscribers for $34/month when you pay annually, which is half the price of the cheapest Beehiiv plan. If you wanted to upgrade your Podia base plan to include more features like unlimited courses, product bundles, and webinars, you would only pay $33/month for Mover and $34/month for 5,000 Podia Email subscribers, for a total of $67/month (paid annually).
That’s still less than you would pay for your newsletter on Beehiiv, and it includes unlimited digital products too.
You can build a website and blog with Podia and Beehiiv, but Podia has more customization options
Podia gives you a full website builder and blogging tool for free. You get access to all design options and you can add unlimited landing pages and email opt-in forms. You can also add unlimited blog posts and customize the design of those blog posts however you like. Style your blog page, adjust the layout of your articles, add a custom color palette, and make other changes without touching a line of code.
Beehiiv is also a no-code editor, but the website builder has more limitations. On the free plan, you’ll only have basic website customizations, and you won’t get access to the layout tab or the new website templates until you upgrade to a paid plan.
When you publish a post on Beehiiv, you have the option to add it as a blog post on your site, send it as an email blast, or both. You can also set posts to be featured if you’d like them to be one of the six primary posts on your website or create categories to organize your content. You can share unlimited blog posts on all plans.
Simply put, Beehiiv has basic websites that are relatively easy to customize, but you’re much more limited in your design options. Plus, you’ll need to be on a free plan to get access to the new website templates.
Podia and Beehiiv both have newsletters and email marketing features
